CASSANDRA HEALS THE WORLD
Despite the warning signs, Cassandra was painfully drawn to Derek against her better judgment. She reminded herself that the whole reason she started doing sex work was to free up time to spend with her daughter, not this man she barely knew. But she couldn't stop thinking about him. She longed to spend every moment with him and she found herself spending a lot more time with him than she should.
It had been so long since she had felt this way about anyone. Derek was fiercely loyal, lovingly dependable, and passionately willing to drop anything for her at any moment. He was intense in everything he did, especially in how he made love to her. His eyes constantly penetrated hers and she couldn't help but be touched by the intense love she saw in them. She also saw intense fear, lust, and possessiveness. She recognized that Derek was almost childlike in his desire for acceptance and love and it made her heart soften towards him.
Derek was very dominant in the bedroom. Cassandra had never had a man take control the way he did. Although he grasped her throat sometimes and even pinned her to the bed with his body, she never felt afraid. His aggressiveness didn't feel threatening. Quite the opposite, it turned Cassandra on more than she wanted to admit, even to herself. She was "dick-whipped" – a slave to her sexual desire for Derek. She couldn't get enough of kissing him, riding him, and feeling his cock inside her.
Rather than making her feel less desire towards her clients, her heightened sexual sensitivity because of Derek added excitement and enjoyment to her sessions for both her and her clients. But she would never tell Derek that. He was too jealous. Within weeks of starting to date, he dropped comments here and there about her quitting sex work. He wanted her to go back into law again, or find something else. At first, she laughed off his comments. But as the months went by, Derek became more and more intolerant of her work. It was becoming a point of contention between them.
His unacceptable behaviour culminated the other day when she was working. While Oscar parked the car after their walk on the beach and brunch, Cassandra had gone up to her condo and checked her phone. That was when she saw a message from Derek.
Derek: How's your client today? Is he enjoying your beautiful body? I can't stand thinking about it.
Cassandra: Then don't think about it. Seriously, Derek, why do you put yourself through this. You are the only one I want. I love YOU.
Derek: Isn't that funny. I remember you telling me the first day that we met that you love your clients and enjoy getting naked with them too.
Cassandra: You know that it's different with you. I've got to go back to work. I love you, Babe.
Derek: If you loved me you wouldn't be fucking around with another man right now.
His last comment was like a punch to the gut. Cassandra resisted answering because Oscar was on his way back from parking the car. She quickly wiped her tears, hoping he wouldn't be able to tell she'd been crying. But he noticed right away. Then later, he correctly assumed that Derek was the reason she'd been crying after she told him she had a boyfriend who didn't like her job. She'd shared too much with Oscar. That was personal information that she should have kept to herself. She had given Oscar the impression that he had the right to criticize Derek.
In retrospect, she'd overreacted. Oscar hadn't meant to cross the line. He'd merely said what he thought and only moments before, he'd told her that he loved her, the dear fool. But Cassandra felt like he was displaying ownership over her, just like what Derek was doing. That had triggered her and she'd coldly asked Oscar to leave.
She was able to enforce her boundaries with Oscar easily. Why was it so hard to do with Derek? And why were men so quick to take ownership of her just because she'd shared intimacy with them for a few months? It could be decades of shared intimacy and they still wouldn't own her. Cassandra bristled at the gall of these men.
Once she'd calmed down, Cassandra texted an apology to Oscar. Even though she still felt he had crossed a boundary, she didn't want him to think she hated him. She wasn't even angry anymore. She felt defeated more than anything. In true "Oscar" fashion, he graciously took responsibility for his actions and told her he was grateful that she had forgiven him. Why couldn't Derek be more like Oscar?
That thought made Cassandra laugh. Oscar loved her. She could be with him instead of Derek. Oscar would be an incredible partner, she knew. He was everything a woman would want in a man – loyal, loving, sweet, rich. He was attentive and skilled in the bedroom. He was the only client Cassandra let go down on her. Of course, she would never admit that to Derek. He would lose his fucking mind. Cassandra wished she was as attracted to Oscar as she was to Derek, but the spark just wasn't there the same way.
Friday, she would see Oscar for their weekly appointment and she would be able to heal the rift more easily in person with a naked hug. Derek was a much bigger problem. He'd apologized for his rude text messages and told her he didn't want to lose her. He said he would try to control his jealousy and be more accepting of her work. Cassandra hoped it was true but she had her doubts. For now, though, she had to put Derek and Oscar out her her thoughts.
One of her regulars was getting dropped off by his brother shortly. She walked through her condo before he arrived, ensuring the hallways and doorways were free from obstructions so that he could get his wheelchair in easily. Dennis had cerebral palsy, a neurological condition affecting his muscles and coordination. On the outside, he was a dear man with a severe disability. But on the inside, he was a passionate man with a raging hard on.
Dennis wasn't a stranger to seeing sex workers. It began when he was in his 20's and his brother took him to the strip clubs. He knew all his favourite dancers by name and they knew him. Dennis's difficulty speaking made some people uncomfortable engaging with him. But strippers never batted an eye. They smiled at him and hugged him. He was in his glory.
When he was a little older and his brother didn't go out to strip clubs anymore, Dennis started seeing escorts. This was how Dennis made life worth living. If not for sex workers, it was possible that Dennis would die one day having never had another person touch him with tenderness or stroke his cock. Masturbating was not only less satisfying but it was extremely difficult with his muscle coordination challenges.
Seeing escorts gave Dennis something to look forward to. So, he had been seeing sex workers for decades by the time he emailed Cassandra for a booking. His usual escort wasn't available that day. Perusing the ads, Cassandra's stood out to him even though she only offered massage. When he reached out to her, he told her he had cerebral palsy and she had to look it up because she wasn't sure what it meant exactly, but she agreed to see him.
Even though his brother took him to strip clubs when they were young, Dennis didn't feel comfortable telling him about his visits with escorts. It was his own little secret that brought him so much happiness. He told his brother that Cassandra was his friend and that was all he needed to know. Dennis was dropped at the sidewalk and made his way up in the elevator after promising to meet back with his brother in two hours.
Their bookings were somewhat short compared to some of Cassandra's clients who liked to book whole days with her, and others who enjoyed multiple hour massages before ordering food and wine. Cassandra loved all of her clients in different ways. She felt grateful to have built up a consistent roster of regulars who were truly wonderful men, Dennis being one of them.
Her sessions with Dennis went a bit differently due to his disability but after some trial and error, Cassandra found what worked best for them. One of the most beautiful things about giving sensual massages to Dennis was that he so obviously loved the whole experience. From the moment he arrived, he soaked up every moment with immense joy.
Cassandra thought it might be because he'd given up on finding a partner. Dating with cerebral palsy couldn't be easy. Some of her non-disabled clients had given up on dating because of their own perceived flaws. It wasn't uncommon. Cassandra herself had stopped dating for years before she met Derek. Whatever the reason for his enthusiasm, Dennis made Cassandra feel like an exciting, special treat and she loved him for it.
Dennis arrived and they spent two hours flirting, hugging, and touching playfully. Cassandra laid on her bed close to the edge so Dennis could caress her mostly nude body. He ran his hand over her body and lightly spanked her ass. Later, using her own hand to guide his, she brought herself to orgasm under his fingers.
Dennis liked to save his release till the last minute and stopped Cassandra when he thought she was going to make him come too soon. When he did finally come, it was very intense. He sat quite motionless for a long time afterwards, as Cassandra cleaned him up. She chattered to him lovingly as she dressed herself. She hadn't met his brother yet, but one of these times she thought he might come up to fetch Dennis and she wanted to appear presentable if that happened.
Today, Dennis's brother did not come up to fetch him. Cassandra gave him a hug and waited for him to put his lips together for a kiss. He puckered up and she leaned in and kissed his teeth just as he opened his mouth involuntarily. They both laughed and hugged again before Dennis wheeled out of her condo towards the elevator.
Cassandra showered and tidied up. Derek was taking her out for dinner and dancing. He was so sexy when he moved his hips in time with hers on the dance floor. She'd never dated a man who could dance like that before. His gorgeous eyes, self-assured posture, and confidence in any room was intoxicating for her. She dressed in a sexy red cocktail dress and slipped on matching heels, thinking excitedly about the night that was to come.
She'd told her mother and daughter that she wouldn't be home tonight. Secretly, she had other plans which involved getting Derek naked and taking full advantage of his sexy body. Her heart fluttered just thinking about it. Applying a fresh coat of lipstick and mascara, she heard the buzzer. Derek had arrived.
She met him in the lobby because she was ready to go. He'd told her to dress for dinner and dancing but what he didn't tell her was that they were going to meet his friend and his friend's wife. His work friend. Another cop. "I told them you're an RMT," he said, shrugging impishly. Cassandra smiled. She could go along with that.
This would be her first time seeing Derek with people from his life. She'd introduced him to Daphne and her mother. They'd even hosted him for dinner a few times. Cassandra found these occasions rather frustrating because she had to constantly stop herself from touching Derek. She didn't want her mother and daughter to see how weak with love for him she was. Finally, she would see what Derek was like around his people.
They found James and Amy at a back table which was way too far from the dance floor but Cassandra didn't say anything. She wanted to make a good impression on Derek's friends. Amy was welcoming which was a relief. Cassandra had always struggled making friends with women. Surprisingly, Amy was interesting and fun. Cassandra found herself thinking less about the dance floor and more about their interesting conversations.
While Derek and James talked about work and sports, Cassandra and Amy talked about raising children and buying their first homes. It was all going along splendidly until James asked Cassandra, "So, how did you two meet?" Silence stretched as Cassandra and Derek looked at each other uncomfortably. "Whoa, did I say something wrong?" James said jokingly.
"No, not at all," Cassandra said, smiling. She was used to having clients ask odd questions. Glancing at Derek, she went on. "Well, we met when Derek came in for a massage one day. I guess we got quiet because it was such a momentous day for both of us. We didn't know we would fall in love that day." Her eyes penetrated Derek's in silent prayer that bringing up her work wouldn't wreck the whole night.
"Oh, that's right! You're a massage therapist!" Amy exclaimed. "I'm actually looking for an RMT right now. Are you taking new clients, Cassandra?" From the corner of her eye, Cassandra could see Derek's smirk. A registered massage therapist.
"Unfortunately no, I'm not at this time, but thank you for thinking of me." Wishing to change the subject Cassandra started to say, "So, who wants to dance…?" But she was interrupted by James.
"That must have been some massage!" he said, clapping Derek on the shoulder. "Did you get a happy ending, Buddy?" Derek's face turned red and Cassandra knew she had to stop this line of questioning before he exploded. She had seen him lose his shit before. He was actually kind of scary.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny, James," she said. "I will say that there was electricity in the room and afterwards, Derek asked me if he could take me for dinner sometime. I said yes and here we are!" Turning to Derek, she said, "Would you like to dance, my love?" Derek seemed to hesitate for a moment but he agreed and they walked towards the dance floor holding hands.
Once they reached the dance floor, Cassandra leaned to speak into Derek's ear over the music. "Please don't let it ruin our night," she said. Derek kissed her on the forehead, smiled tightly, then started dancing. The night wasn't ruined after all. Derek seemed to be over it. Cassandra got to dance and socialize, laugh and enjoy Derek's laughter.
They fell into Derek's bed at the end of the night, ravenous for each other's touch. With Cassandra positioned on top, Derek grabbed her throat just the way she liked and it made her come hard and fast on his cock. Derek was a generous lover. She came several more times before their lovemaking was over.
As they lay in each other's arms afterwards, Derek said, "I wish this was enough for you. I wish I was enough for you."
"What do you mean?" Cassandra replied, sitting up to look at him.
"I mean, I wish you didn't feel the need to be intimate with other men."
"I don't feel the need," Cassandra said. "I admit I enjoy my work. That's true. It's very rewarding. I feel like I'm making a beautiful difference in people's lives. What is so bad about that? But, I don't feel the same for them as I feel for you."
"You say that but it's hard to believe. And it's not people's lives, it's men's lives. How can giving handjobs be so rewarding? How can you choose the men over me?" Derek's voice was mocking but also vulnerable. Cassandra wanted to help him understand, not make him feel less important than her clients. But how could she explain it when Derek was so blinded by his own view of how it was?
"If you had sex with another woman, let's say an escort, right now, while you're in a relationship with me; would it change how you feel about me?"
"What do you mean 'have sex'? I wouldn't do that, for one. And secondly, is that what you're doing? 'Having sex' with your clients?"
"Of course not!" Cassandra replied forcefully. She was starting to feel attacked. "I should have said massage but I was trying to drive the point home that being intimate with other people doesn't change or impact my feelings towards you. I think people have a right to access intimacy if it is missing in their lives and the service I provide is valuable because I'm actually helping people, Derek." Derek rolled his eyes which pissed Cassandra off.
"You focus on the sexual aspect of it but if I was a nurse cleaning people's asses or sticking catheters in their cocks, you would be proud of me. You are brainwashed by society to think that sensual intimacy is something that we can only share with one person in our lives. But that's complete bullshit!" Cassandra was near tears. She was sick of having this argument with Derek.
"Don't forget, you were a client coming to me for my services. You, of all people, should understand what it's like to want intimacy but not have anyone to share it with. You risked your job to see me." Derek looked away. Cassandra couldn't read his mood but it looked as though he was feeling ashamed.
"Are you ashamed of paying for my services because you're a cop or because I'm a sex worker?" she asked quietly.
"Neither," Derek replied. "I'm ashamed for not being able to handle your job. I'm sorry, Cassandra. Let's just call it a night, okay?" He turned his back to her while she sat looking at him, wondering if she should just go home. He looked over his shoulder at her. "I'm sorry. You're right. I have no right to try and stop you from doing the job you had when I met you."
Cassandra tried to hold back but she was too exhausted. Tears began streaming down her face. "I don't know if this is working out, Derek." At her words, he quickly sat up and took her in his arms.
"I'm sorry," he said, petting her back and holding her tight. "I don't want to lose you. Please forget everything I said tonight. You don't deserve this. I'm really sorry, Cassandra." She cried in his arms for a few minutes before pulling herself together.
"I don't want to lose you either," she said. They lay back down facing each other. "But I don't know how much longer I can go on like this. Everything is so good but you want to throw it away even though my clients are no threat to you. I don't know what to do, Derek. I don't want to lose you either."
"I'll do better," he replied. "I promise. Please forgive me. Tonight was amazing and I'm sorry I ruined it."
"You didn't ruin it," she said. "I had a great time. Let's get some sleep and start over again tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay," said Derek. He kissed her nose, wiped her tears, and drew her into his arms. "Goodnight sweet angel who heals the world," he said.
Cassandra blinked back more tears and choked on her words as she replied, "Goodnight sweet warrior who protects the world."
